Mafia Island Lodge, located in tall palms on a sandy
beach on Chole
Bay, is in the heart of the Mafia Island
Marine Park near Utende Village on the
south coast of Mafia. The lodge was the original and first
accommodation on Mafia Island.
Mafia Island Lodge attracts international divers from
all around the world to the unexplored waters of Mafia Island and
surrounding reefs.
Forty comfortable rooms, set among the swaying coconut palms on the
white sandy beach, each have their own veranda overlooking the bay.
Two large
suite rooms have generous-sized living rooms. All the rooms are air
conditioned, and have en suite bathrooms with running hot and cold
water 24 hours a day. Fax, telephone, laundry and conference
facilities are available at the hotel.
An airy dining
room, cozy bar and large terrace facing the ocean creates a
relaxing and peaceful atmosphere at Mafia Island Lodge. The cuisine is
continental with an emphasis on seafood. A variety of meals including
Swahili
dinners, snacks and sandwiches are also served. A selection of
alcoholic
beverages, wines, beers, juices and sodas are available at the bar.
The diving center at Mafia Island Lodge is specialized and welcomes
diving enthusiasts of all levels. The courses offered extend to
qualified divers who would like to continue developing their
underwater education. All divers will enjoy the clear and calm waters
