Mafia Island Pole Pole Bungalow Resort

Pole Pole (pronounced pohleh pohleh) Bungalow Resort, located on the
shores of Mafia Island Marine Park, epitomizes the Kiswahili words of "take it easy", which really literally to Pole Pole.

Ten roomy bungalows with wide verandas look onto the sea and are built
entirely out of wood and raised on stilts to ensure the maximum comfort for the guests. Two types of bungalows are available:  spacious luxury bungalows and the comfortable sensation beach bungalows.

The luxury bungalows are elegant and spacious chalets, set among the coconut trees, overlooking a bay and the magnificent Chole and Juani Islands. The large private verandas are furnished with a Zanzibari bed, chairs, table and an armchair. Each chalet has a spacious en suite bathroom. Bathrooms have double washbasins, king-size showers, bidets and toilets. An additional bed, for a child or a third person, can be provided.

The sensation bungalows are smaller but are only 5 meters from the shore. The bungalows are made of wood and makuti (coconut palm leaves) and are  furnished with external camp-like toilets and showers.

The Pole Pole cuisine is a combination of diverse culinary traditions and
cultures, with an Italian style touch of class. Seafood, homemade pasta and
delicious fresh fruit ice cream are the specialties. A Swahili dinner is served
once per week or on request.  Most of the food served is organically grown and bought on the island to help local fisherman.

A selection of beverages and cold drinks are always available at the bar,
which remains open until guests have retired.
