Gombe Stream National Park Gombe Stream Tented Camp

Gombe Stream Tented Camp is located close to the Gombe Stream National Park headquarters on the shore of the Mitumba stream. Spacious white sandy beach, big shady trees and remarkable views over the clear waters of Lake Tanganyika, especially at sunset, make this the perfect camp location.

The camp features large Meru-style tents on low wooden platforms, all clustered in a patch of forest beside the shore. A small reception area is situated on the beach on a wooden deck under a thatched roof and also accommodates a library, information centre, curio shop, bar and lounge. The kitchen and staff area is situated a small distance from the camp so as not to interfere with the sights and sounds of nature.

Breakfasts are American style with emphasis on tropical fruits and juices, lunches are usually light, and three course evening meals are a combination of tasty traditional dishes and fresh fish from Lake Tanganyika.

The spacious tents face the lake on raised wooden platforms and are adequately spaced apart to ensure privacy. Decorated in a distinct African style with locally produced furniture, you definitely feel like you are on safari. The deck has two comfortable safari chairs and a small table, which enables you to have a perfect view of the lake and sunsets. After a day of climbing hills tracking chimpanzees you can relax on your deck or beside a campfire on the beach for sundowners and snacks.
